A backup is your own copy of everything in Secludere, saved as a single file you keep. It is optional, and it lives entirely in your hands: no iCloud, no account, nothing on our servers. If a device is ever lost, stolen, or stops working, a backup puts every document back, exactly as it was.

You do not have to trust any cloud. The backup is a file you hold, and you decide where it lives.

Create one in about a minute.

Open Settings and find Backup
In the app, go to Settings and scroll to the Backup section, then tap Export encrypted backup.

Choose a passphrase
Pick a passphrase (at least 6 characters) and confirm it. This passphrase is the only key to the file and cannot be recovered, so write it down somewhere safe. It is separate from your master password.

Decide what to include
Leave Include original scans off for a light backup of your information only, or turn it on to bundle the original scanned images too: a complete copy, in a larger file.

Create the backup
Tap Create encrypted backup and wait a moment while it encrypts on your device.

Save it somewhere you trust
Tap Share or save the backup and put the
.sclbkfile wherever you like: Files, an external drive, AirDrop to your Mac, or your own cloud.
Bring everything back.

Open Restore
On the device you want to restore onto, go to Settings → Backup and tap Restore from backup.

Pick your backup file
Tap Choose backup file… and select the
.sclbkfile you saved earlier. - 3
Enter its passphrase
Type the passphrase you set when you created that backup. Only it can open the file.

Restore, safely
It merges into your vault: it adds anything missing and keeps the newest version of anything already there, and it never deletes. If the backup included the scans, those come back too.
The passphrase can't be recovered
If you lose it, no one can open the file, including us. Keep it as carefully as the backup itself.

A drive and your cloud, for example. A backup only helps if it is somewhere safe when you need it.
Restoring is safe
It never deletes or overwrites newer data, so you can restore onto a vault that already has documents.

Information-only is small and quick; including scans makes a full copy with the original images.
